come on…just throw it

I’m hands-free baby! Can you hear me?

The population of Star-Trek impersonators increased by about 24 Million this week – all due to drivers in the state of California.  Beam me up Scottie.  (Who knows what the number is when you include all the unregistered drivers.) We all have little blinky communicators stuck in our ears now.

The first week of hands-free California was glorious.  It really seemed like California drivers are taking it to heart and paying more attention to other driving activities like putting on make-up, painting nails, shaving, eating, reading the paper, texting, ipod shuffling, playing solitaire, smoking joints, picking their noses, slapping their kids in the back seat, playing the harmonica, changing clothes, throwing garbage at other cars, driving with their lights off at night, passing on the shoulder, and the ever popular drinking.  Californians are great multitaskers.

It’s a step in the right direction and texting should come next.  Motorcycle driving laws should be revisited too.  Come on – how many traffic jams are caused by a motorcycle getting clipped when passing between cars?  It’s legal, but that one guy causes havoc for hundreds of thousands when he wrecks (it happens every morning).   I’ve kept an eye out for people on their phones this week & spotted several – mostly women (sorry ladies – it’s what I saw).  I hope you all get tickets.

Here’s my beef with bluetooth headsets….
I do NOT think it’s neccessary for use outside of your car. People (mostly guys)in
malls, restaurants, bars, etc. talking out loud to….themselves? “Hello? has anyone told you that you look crazy”! Then they turn around and their ear is blinking… “Oh wait, i’m sorry but your too cool to take your phone and hold it like everyone else” It’s more of a status thing then convenience. I personally am just fine using my wire plug-in headset when I drive. Yes, it’s soooo 5 years ago, I know. lol
